About Joseph

Since childhood, I have been interested in how the body and mind work with our experiences to create who we are, how we act and how that creates our experiences and relationships to the world around us. I wondered how our outer experiences influence our personal experience of our bodies and emotions, how we learn and explore the world and how we relate to the mysteries that we come across in our lives.

I grew up surrounded by the forests, rivers, lakes and parklands of Ohio. I enjoy the type of deep, respectful relationship with nature that growing up playing and learning in nature provides. I am a committed nature adventurer, enthusiast and student. I continue to grow, learn and play in nature while backpacking, hiking, gardening, drawing and just allowing myself to be in and listen to my natural surroundings.

Always curious, I have studied and engaged formally and informally in a broad range of topics in both experiential and intellectual ways. I've received formal degrees in history, sociology and the law. I've trained as a competitive athlete. I have practiced as an attorney and have helped to create and run both successful for-profit businesses and non-profit community programs and charities. I have been a member of, and at various times, a leader on teams and in organizations. My explorations and shifts in roles and interests are fueled by my interest in the wide range of knowledge and experience available in life.

My interest in personal growth, healing and expanding the potential of our human experiences is cultivated by a wonder of what is actually possible in our lives. It grew as I began my own journey of personal growth and spirituality. Along the way, I learn from others dedicated to the same curiosity. I have received love, care, wisdom and compassion from skilled practitioners of all types. Most important, I have learned how to develop deep personal relationships of all varieties with diverse people.

My desire to help others has led me to guidework. Formally, I have completed training in the Hakomi Method of somatic mindfulness and training in using expanded states of consciousness through the School of Consciousness Medicine. I have gone on to offer my time and expertise to these same programs. I continue to experience the world in fuller and fuller ways. I look forward to offering my knowledge and experience in service to your growth and exploration!
